The walking Dead Season 7
The walking dead season 6 cliff hanger had everyone sitting at the edge of their seats when they finally introduced Negan. I was even wondering who could it be or would they even stick with the comics as the walking dead series has drifted from time to time away from comics.
****Spoiler alert ****
The beginning of season 7 started off were the 6th finally ended introducing Negan leader of the survivors a group of 70 plus man who take from other groups that managed to survive the zombie apocalypse and his trusted bat “ Lucille” a barbed wired bat that he named after his late wife. Negan portrayed by Actor Jeffery Dean Morgen In the television series. Is a vicious ruthless killer that enjoys testing the will of others and seeing how much it takes for him to break them by any means necessary.
He has Rick (Andrew Lincoln) , Maggie ( Lauren Cohan), Abraham ( Michael Cudlitz), Michonne (Danai Jekesai Gurira), Glenn (Steven Yeun), Daryl (Norman Mark Reedus), Carl (Chandler Riggs), Rosita ( Christian Marie Serratos), Aaron(Ross Marquand), Eugene (Joshua Matthew Michael McDermitt), and Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green). All on their knees surrounding them with machine guns. As he introduces himself by making a statement playing a game of “Eeny Meeny miny moe” picking someone who he was going to kill. He picks someone but not before letting them know that if
...
“ anyone moves, anybody says something rip the other eye of the boy and feed it to his father”.
Many people had theories on who did Negan kill. Just like that old Tv drama Dallas who shot Jr. When the beginning of season 7 episode 1 started I just wanted to know already but it made sense why episode played out like it did by Negan dragging Rick with him at unknown location taking Rick hatchet with them. As they arrived a group of the dead start to surround the RV. Negan gets the hatchet and throws outside telling Rick to go and get it. Testing him and determining if he and the remaining survivors stay alive. At first I thought he'd threw forward and not on the roof of the RV. Rick with nothing to defend himself from the zombies manages to overcome and gets on top of the RV. Negan demands for Rick to return the hatchet. As he is out of breath and trying to process of what just happened to them. Negan starts to fire his riffle upwards nearly hitting Rick as he jumps across on to a walker who had hugged himself. The rope breaks and the two fall to the ground. Rick grabs the hatchet and starts to defend himself from the hoard of zombies as they start to get close but Negan saves him at a moments notice.
They return back and Negan dragged out Rick having go back to his knees. At this point we finally get to see who Negan killed and happens to be Abrahm one of Ricks right hand man. An upseted Daryl try's to swing at Negan. This only makes thing worse and the accuracy and detail Negan swings “ Lucille” hitting Glenn. As brutal it may have seem The Walking Dead needed to head to this approach. The series viewership was declining. The Group has always manage to overcome every battle they face and was repeat. Get to new location and find salvation come across a villain(s) who wants everyone dead. Defeat them and back to a peaceful times. Occasionally come across a hoard of zombies escape or kill them live another day.
This was different Negan broke them all including Rick. He even went as far as to make Rick cut off his own son arm. That didn't happen instead he took Daryl with back to his camp and let the others live. Telling the rest that he will back and they better have supplies for him and his army. As they now work for him leaving only a van so that they may return back to Alexandria.
In the comics Negan returns back earlier than what he said he would and makes them bring what they have in the comics. He even goes as far and tells Rick Before departing, he retrieving "Lucille" from him and whispers, "I just slid my dick down your throat, and you thanked me for it."
So at this point in the television series they might be heading more towards the comic books. Which I'm okay with it I want it to head that route. I understand that the producers are going to make some changes or minor tweaks. I get it they have to do that in order for it to work. I can't wait for remaining of the series and hope they continue to keep myself and the audience at the edge of our seats.
